Succumbs After Being Scalded

Clarence Kleopfer, Native of Jefferson County, Died This Morning At Alabama Hospital

Word was received today of the death at a hospital in Decatur, Alabama, of Clarence Kleopfer, which occured at one o'clock this morning following injuries received while at work last Friday. Mr. Kleopfer, who was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kleopfer, of Kent, had lived in Decatur for the past seventeen or eighteen years where he had employment at an ice plant.

Last Friday one of the big boilers in the plant burst, severely scalding Mr. Kleopfer and the foreman, Mr. Jones, both men being rushed to a hospital at which place Mr. Jones passed away Saturday, Mr. Kleopfer living until this morning.

The parents of Mr. Kleopfer were notified of the terrible tragedy and left immediately for Decatur, being at the bedside of their son when the end came this morning.

The news of the tragic death hast cast a deep gloom of sorrow over the community of Kent as Mr. Kleopfer was well known and highly respected throughout that neighborhood. He was 41 years of age and was born in Jefferson County but left there several years ago. He was married six years ago and had one child, a little girl. His wife preceded him in death four years ago and his daughter just two years ago.

Mr. Kleopfer was an honest and upright man, kind and considerate of all and his untimely death is a terrible blow to his many relatives and friends. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. jacob Kleopfer, of Kent; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Tevis, Indianapolis; Mrs. Esther Lowe, of Republican township, and five brothers, Harry, of Columbia, Tennesse; Byron of Republican township; Barton, of Indianapolis; Charles, living in Georgia, and Stanley, residing in California. All of the family left to attend the funeral services which are to be held in Decatur, the body to be laid to rest beside that of his wife and little daughter.
